Getting paid for a minor thing someone did more than 25 years ago isn’t something everyone can enjoy, but this Titanic actor isn’t like most people. He played a minor role in the iconic movie, which was released back in 1997, but he continues to receive checks for his work. Check out the full story about Reece Thompson’s salary and movie performance below:
The Role Thompson Played in Titanic
Thompson played the role of a small child in the iconic romance/drama when he was just five years of age. The man portrayed a third-class passenger of Irish descent. As you might expect, things don’t end well for him and his family.
Arguably, the most compelling and tragic part of the young man’s performance in Titanic was when Thompson and his sibling and mother are lying in their cabin, waiting for the inevitable to happen. After all, third-class passengers weren’t allowed on the lifeboats.
Small Role, Big Money
Even though the then-kid played a very minor role in the movie, it stayed with him for the rest of his life. Believe it or not, he’s still being trotted out to talk about the experience he’s had in James Cameron’s iconic Titanic.
Thompson had only one line in the movie, and yet he continues to get paid for the role. In a peculiar twist, however, the child star of Titanic hasn’t seen his checks in a few years. Why? Simply because he’s changed his address and hasn’t updated it.
Currently, Thompson spends his days managing a digital marketing team in Utah. However, chances are that his previous acting career will continue to haunt him, as he still gets interviewed about the part he played and the checks he’s still receiving.
The amount on these checks hasn’t been disclosed, but we can safely assume that Thompson must have received a good sum for his performance in Titanic, especially keeping in mind the fact that he still gets paid more than 25 years later.
