Set in the early 2030s during his “presidential” campaign, each episode follows Dwayne Johnson as he goes through interviews and conversations that trigger flashbacks from three pivotal periods in his life: his childhood in Hawaii, high school years in Pennsylvania, and college football days at the University of Miami.

Young Rock made its debut in February 2021 and received positive reception, prompting the production of a holiday special and subsequent second and third seasons, which concluded in February 2023. However, despite its initial success, the third season experienced a decline in ratings compared to its predecessors. According to live + same-day Nielsen data, the show garnered an average of 1.4 million viewers and a 0.25 demo rating in the 18-49 demographic, lower than the second season’s average of 2.23 million viewers and a 0.39 rating. The first season boasted even higher ratings, averaging over 3 million viewers per episode and a 0.62 demo rating.

Regrettably, the declining ratings led to the cancellation of Young Rock, leaving fans disappointed and heartbroken. Viewers took to social media to express their sadness over the news, with one Twitter user lamenting the cancellation’s impact on the unresolved cliffhanger from the last season. Another former viewer admitted to stopping after the first season but expressed sadness over the show’s cancellation nonetheless. Supporters of the series praised its exceptional cast and well-written storyline, emphasizing their disappointment at its premature end.
